because we can't have people DYING!

Standards must be upheld.

I dont know why anyone would ever think that these folks:

would ever flush a book down a toilet. A book? Books are special!

Give me a break. Weve seen the pictures from Abu Ghraib. Weve read the stories like this one:

The general leading the hunt for Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein has publicly declared that the Christian God is "bigger" than Allah, who is a false "idol", and believes the war on terrorism is a fight with Satan, it emerged yesterday.

And now heres Scott McLellan up at the podium, blowing his gas-hole about the militarys respect for Muslim values.

Just exactly how much crap do they expect us to swallow? Does anyone really believe that any of these corn-pone homegrown fascists would refrain from dumping a book in a toilet? A book from some foreigners false religion? Hell, thats probably what books are for in whatever backwoods cooter farming hellhole faith-based, values-centered culture-of-life community these ass-hats get recruited from.

Did Newsweek screw up big time? You bet. So did the New York Times (and the rest of the journalemmings) when they let Judith Miller print her government sources unsubstantiated allegations about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, which later turned out to be totally false. It should be noted that Scott McClellan wasnt too terribly outraged by that egregious failure to uphold standards.

Of course, Koran-flushing has been alleged by many and reported in a number of other publications (see here), and one suspects that whether its true or not, the Arab world as a whole is already pretty agitated over larger issues, both real (the occupation of Iraq and the escalating colonialist liberty rhetoric) and symbolic (hillbilly princess Lynndie England leading naked Arab men around on the leash like dogs). I'm guessing stuff like this

really pisses them off, too. But no matter, this is precisely the screw-up the White House has been waiting for. This is just whats needed to stoke the fires of paranoia in the GOP baseto get them all whipped up about how victimized they are by those Godless liberal media elites, etc., etc. Another tsunami of bullshit under which this administration can continue to lie and evade and prosecute their war against Satan at taxpayer expense.

And clearly, its really going well. Just look at all the freedom!
