Hard times in Jesusland, kids. Looks like there were never any "WMDs" in Iraq. Remember WMDs? You know, the original reason we just had to invade Iraq right now? Because they were going to have atomic bombs by like the end of the year, etc.? I know, I know....the Ministry of Truth has erased that history, and it's wrongthink to bring it up. Today, the Iraq war is all about freedom and incinerating the universe with the flamethrower of liberty, or whatever the Dear Leader's latest bullshit is.

But this WMD meme has had an interesting trajectory. First, "OMG they've got 'em, danger, danger!!". Then, "we haven't found 'em yet, but we're sure these trailors indicate suspicious activities." Then, "it looks like our brave campaign to free the Iraqi people from oppression has been a success!".

But some of us remember the beginning of this whole insane misadventure. And some of us remember that "everyone" didn't believe that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Despite the careful work of all the blue ribbon commissions to normalize that view of the past, I remember quite clearly that almost no one believed that. That's why people protested in the streets. That's why our "allies" are like Poland and Micronesia, and not like France, Germany, Canada, or other First World nations.
