Our imbecile president droned on for over 55 minutes last night in a pack of lies euphemistically termed the State of the Union Address. Here were some of his clever ideas to protect us all from dangerous things like personal liberty, employment, balanced federal budgets, and sex: Renewal of the Patriot Act; A permanent enactment of all his tax cuts; Stripping Americans of their rights to sue for medical malpractice; 23 million bucks for drug testing in public schools; Double funding for abstinence programs; 4 year, 300 million dollar program to fund religious missionaries to released prisoners; A constitutional amendment to defend the sanctity of marriage (not to defend it, presumably, from divorce or infidelity, but from the gays). There is nothing too ridiculous, too banal and false and pandering for him to say. And oh how they all worship him, all the pompous, overweight and self-satisfied white guys. How puffy and red their faces grow when anyone speaks ill of their Golden Boy, the one who showed everyone that you really can be important without a lot of fancy book-learnin. Hes their man, the guy who doesnt give a damned about smart-mouthed professors and their complicated opinions, or about smooth-talking African diplomats at the U.N. He knows that all our problems can be solved by a good old-fashioned ass-kickin. How I loathe him. God, how I loathe him. Incidentally, it really makes me laugh how CNN will run these little quotes at the bottom of the screen during a speech. Like hed say we must defend the sanctity of marriage and it will say at the bottom of the screen: Bush: must defend the sanctity of marriage. No shit, assholes, he JUST SAID THAT. Also, Nancy Pelosi may be a reptileI dont think I saw her blink even once during her rebuttal speech. So creepy. Tom Dachle says that small towns are Americas backbone. Why is paying homage to rural America the price of admission to American Politics? Some 80% of Americans live in cities, and America has been an urban nation since the 19th century.
